Thavatthiru Kumaragurupara Swamigal is the second son of Thiru Nataraja gounder (Younger brother of Sundaraswamigal) and Mrs. Valliammal. He was born on 06.08.1970. He had his school education in mutt school and later at Sarva Jana High school, Peelamedu. He joined B.Sc Course, but could not continue due to his involvement in mutt activities, being close to Sundaraswamigal.
He ascended the graceful throne of Kaumara mutt on 14.06.94, after the sudden and unexpected demise of Sundaraswamigal. He was only 24 then. The smooth change-over was possible only by the bold help of his uncle Thiru Doraisamy and other close relations and friends.
Thavitthiru Kumaragurupara Swamigal had to meet the teething problems, as usual in other establishments, when a change occurs in the top level. Wealth, Power, responsibilities, tasks to be fulfilled, challenges to be met and customs to be followed - all were there. Kumaragurupara Swamigal faced all these and much more. But with patience, divine grace of his predecessors, apt knowledge and guidance from elders won over the confidence of all. Now the mutt is a flourishing one, in the way Sundara Swamigal treaded.
Thavatthiru Kumaragurupara Swamigal learned the customary activities of the mutt. Besides, he acquired an MA degree in Tamil and later a Ph.D., from Madurai Kamaraj University, doing research on the literary works on Perur by Kandasamy Swamigal. This Knowledge helps him immensely to conduct seminars and to publish books. In this way he does his ample service to Tamil literature and language.
It will not be an exaggeration to mention that during the graceful period of Kumaragurupara Swamigal, Kaumara mutt will reach pinnacle of glory in education, literaute and social service. Let us pray Lord Murugan to bless swamigal to achieve these.
